Three Rivers MMA Victorious!
May 17, 2008, the mixed martial arts event held at the Executive Inn attracted fighters from the area and a large audience, and the overwhelming fights of the night belonged to Three Rivers. Congratulations to Kyle, Steven, and Mike, not just on your performances, but on all your hard work and dedication to proper training at the best academy in the area! Here is some of the action from the night.
Brad Wins! While it was of no surprise to anyone who trains with Brad Lynn, the second round win at the Murray, Kentucky, MMA competition in August 2007, was a brilliant performance and testament to the art of jiu-jitsu. After nearly finishing off his opponent in the first round with a rear choke, Brad tapped him with a straight armlock in just a little over a minute of round two. Great skills, Brad!
TECHNIQUES
6-25-07 Here is a series that begins at the shot for a double leg and ends with a footlock. The cool thing about this move is that it contains some useful component moves from standing, sweeping, and groundwork.
6-18-07 Here is a fun one. The "twister"...it's not just for side control anymore.
6-11-07 This technique is a sweep using the underhook from the butterfly guard. This one has some details that many people leave out.
5-14-07 This technique is not from the closed guard or the half guard, but from the quarter guard. You heard it right...the quarter guard. You'll see what we mean.
5-7-07 This technique is the Go-Go Plata option from the rubber-guard setup. Also included is an inverted armbar option.
4-27-07 This technique is a counter to a single-leg takedown, which results in a neck crank. Enjoy!
2-27-07 This technique is an X-Guard sweep to armbar. Beginning in butterfly guard, Eli pops Jared up, establishes his X-Guard, pulls Jared's upper body down, and sweeps by springing his legs upward. After getting side control, Eli crosses over to a farside armbar.
2-20-07 Here are two techniques, from two different kicks. First, Jared shows a defense from a front kick/foot jab, then Eli shows a technique off of a round kick. Enjoy.
2-13-07 This technique is an arm/shoulder stretch, set up from a striking situation in the closed-guard position.
2-6-07 This technique begins in quarter position as Jared bases his arm to prevent the turnover. Eli hooks the arm Jared is using to base out with Eli’s inside leg, puts his arm in front of Jared, and rolls over his shoulder bringing Jared over with him. The resulting position is side control with Jared's arm wrapped up in a Kimura by Eli's legs.
1-23-2007 This technique is a bent arm lock using a leg entanglement against the opponent's arm as he attempts the guard pass. It is shown here from both single- and double-leg pass variations.
1-15-2007 This week's technique is the full-turn armlock from closed guard. The technique demonstrators are Eli Knight and Jared Jessup.
